El Valle Kicks on
Route 66
A Centennial Theme for
Walk ‘on Main for 2026
It’s 2026 and Route 66 is 100 years old. We’re celebrating that centennial accomplishment through our November art event in Cottonwood. Our event is scheduled for November 13, 14, and 15 during Walkin’ On Main. EVAA artists and photographers are invited to participate. To get started we will be taking sign ups in the foyer at the meetings and will facilitate ways for participants to connect with other artists and photographers to share ideas and even to make road trips to visit locations on the Mother Road in Arizona.
Are you interested in a day trip or overnighter to visit Route 66? David Marsh is working on ideas to break the Arizona section of Route 66 into segments and from there, we’ll make plans to travel. David will present his ideas at the February meeting, don’t miss out!
El Valle Around the Valley
We have a new location for exhibiting our artwork on a continuing basis: Verde Valley Dental, 637 North Main Street Suite C, Cottonwood. Dr Alicia King, who recently moved her office into this location, is very pleased that the artworks were installed on January 9 in her waiting room and office suites. They will remain in place until May and then another exhibition will go up until December. We expect to continue the six-month schedule. The installation team included Jette Monahan, Christine Reifers, Betty Nuyen, Nita Marlette, John Murphy, Jackie Fagan, and Marie Hughey. The artworks were some of the pairs from Double Vision Unbounded.
LET”S DO IT !
Do you have a technique to share or something you would like to learn about? Need a kick start? Want to get to know other members better?
Maybe Let’s Do It!! days are for you. Design your own pod (group) of 2-4 members. Post your own Let’s Do It!! offerings at the monthly meetings and sign-up for other posted opportunities, too. These opportunities are free to members with the possible exception of a supply fee.
Show your pod’s results at meetings or enter Artist of the Month and local shows individually.
A few ideas to incorporate into our work, such as, Gelli print uses, paste paper, cyan-print, photography, lettering, urban sketching, carving stamps or wood, 3-D, bookmaking, beading, silver smithing, art museum visit, Plein Air painting, urban sketching, etc.
